Lewis and Harris is an island of great beauty and provides much to interest fishermen, bird watchers, walkers and climbers and those who simply enjoy peace and quiet. For first time visitors we have suggested a typical Monday to Friday programme, but of course it only covers a fraction of what is on offer.

TUESDAY - Stornoway: explore the town and harbour, visit the Museum, walk around the extensive and beautiful Castle grounds, Garry Beach, North Tolsta.
WEDNESDAY - Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, Shawbost Norse Mill, Whalebone Arch, Arnol Blackhouse Museum, Eoropie Church and enjoy the dramatic splendour of Port of Ness and the Butt of Lewis.

THURSDAY - Uig sands, Valtos and Reef: beautiful unspoilt beaches of white shell sand. Iron age village at Bosta Beach
FRIDAY - Tarbert, the magnificent shoreline of West Harris, Rodel and Leverburgh.

Numerous beaches around the island, the nearest only 6 miles away, offer guests the opportunity to enjoy the tranquillity and vast expanses of sand. Free angling for brown trout is readily available on the many nearby lochs. Bird watchers will delight at the sight of over 100 species including the Golden Eagle. Walkers will discover the island is rich in flora and fauna.
Some 700 species of flowering plants and ferns can be readily sighted, including numerous varieties of wild orchids, some of which grow on the verges of the lane beside Eshcol Guest House
